I’ll be honest, this summer was one of the best times of my life. I haven’t felt so free, so happy, and so grateful to be alive in years. I am so glad I started to work less; I’d rather have a mind full of memories over a pocket full of cash any day. It was hard to make that decision- but I can’t even explain how much I really needed that time to myself. I spent my summer running around- constantly moving from one place to another, and I loved it! I’m the kind of person that LOVES to stay busy. Unfortunately with that being said I did seem to neglect my blog a bit- many apologies to you lovelies who stop by time to time! But tis the season- my very favorite fashion season of all- so I am back with an intention to stay on top of it! I feel very refreshed this fall, and look forward to being very organized and informative!
Sitting here on this rainy day made me want to share some of my favorite pieces with you all. These two jackets mean a whole lot to me, and were both purchased at Goodwill!
Firstly I have to apologize. I have not posted in quite a while, I’ve had some significant changes occur in my life recently and had to sort out some ideas. I have also recently been working on updating the site, but that’s still in the works. So as many of you know, I have worked for Free People for just about two years now. I was promoted to the Full Time Assistant Store Manager this summer, which was more than an honor to me. I have become so immersed in this business and this company, and wish to continue on this career path. However, I may have forgotten about the fact that I was also a 20 year old full time student. Needless to say, it became entirely too difficult to balance a job that requires such intense commitment and also trying to not only pass 5 classes but take as much information from them as possible. So I had to make a decision, and I chose to take time off of work. I have to say, this was certainly one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make. I had received the job I had dreamt about, it felt so surreal, and I had to give it up.
I like always being on the run, it keeps me focused and it makes me feel accomplished. Being a full time student and a full time manager has proven to test me in ways, but I still enjoy a good challenge. I have to admit though, I never thought I would love working as much as I do now; it’s probably because I get to do what I love. I have heard so many beautiful stories and made lifelong friends with my coworkers as well as my customers. I get to help people find ways to express their souls; sometimes picking out wedding dresses, first date dresses, and other times helping people discover their personal style.
As some of you may know- Saturday was my last shift at Free People in Paramus, I really can’t believe after almost two years I am moving to a new store. It was so hard saying goodbye to my home and my free people family- but I am SO excited to start a new family with Free People in Woodcliff Lake!! (plus- it’s only 10 minutes away!! I won’t be too far from home!)
In this job I have met some of the most amazing and inspirational women in the world, I have seen people grow up, get promoted, fall in love, move around the country; I’ve made myself a family here and I will never stop being inspired by them all.
I decided since I am beginning a new adventure I wanted to share some of my favorite all time outfits from my time as an FP Paramus girl!
I’ll never forget putting this dress on for the first time. I had been working at Free People for a very short amount of time and had never tried on something so beautiful in my life. I instantly felt like a princess. The fabric is so lightweight but has an incredible drape that hangs to perfection. I paired this with our seamless slip and a flower crown to complete the ultimate fairy princess look. Nowadays when I style this dress I like to throw on a baggy ripped up tee or a big cozy sweater with booties and a hat.
Here is one of my favorite fall looks; thrfited wide brim hat (Goodwill, $4.99), Layering Top, Lacey Slip, and Knee-High Jeffreys. The necklaces I’m wearing were a special gift from my handsome best friend/ boyfriend, they were crystals he gave me quite some time ago- with a clock necklace i picked up on the streets of NYC. The blue necklace is a beaded dream catcher with shells on the bottom given to me by my mom (thrfited in Manasquan, NJ)
Wearing the most gorgeous Mara Hoffman dress I have ever seen in my life. All of that trim work is beading. Mind-blowing beauty.
Date night! Feminine florals with menswear styled hats and jackets // sounds like the perfect date for me.
One of my favorite outfits of all time. I love dressing with neutrals and cozy textures. This outfit has some great contrast with the shredded denim too. You can never go wrong with a flannel around your waist (that flannel being my favorite of all time- ol’ faithful) The sweater is no longer available- it was from Free People’s holiday last year. You can find that amazing beanie here.
I was lucky enough to be inspired by these girls and many many others. If you are interested in styling, making lifelong connections, daily inspiration, and hard work, maybe you should consider applying to Free People. I walked into this store as a college kid who needed a job and wanted to apply for my dream job, not expecting to even get a call back, and I am leaving an Assistant Store Manager, off to a new adventure, with memories and friends I will never forget.
